Dear Jim:

	Attached is a catalog statement about my proposed VTSS course
and material concerning the syllabus and readings as you requested.
Since I hope to give the course next winter, the syllabus is far
from accurate.  In particular, some of the important topics may
not take long to cover, because there may not be that much to say.
If the catalog statement seems too long, you can use only the first
